Gopher State One Call
Know what's below....call before you dig
If you are a homeowner or farmer who occasionally digs on your property,
we need your help in preventing pipeline emergencies. For your safety,
state law requires you to call 811 at least 48 hours (two working days) before
you dig. This includes projects as large as builing a deck or as small as putting
in a mailbox on your yard. A representative will come to your home and mark
where lines are buried. There is no charge for this service as Gopher State One Call
is supported by area utilitiy companies.
What do the different color utility markings mean?
Your property will be marked with either colored paint, flags, or stakes. The markings will show the location and path of the specified utility. If you are
digging within two feet of the marked area, only use small hand tools to carefully expose the utility line and not cause damage. Always proceed with
caution when digging around utility lines.
